The Principal is pivotal in shaping the culture, direction, and success of a school. As an instructional leader and community figure, the principal ensures high standards of teaching and learning, supports staff development, and fosters a safe, inclusive environment where students thrive.
Stepping into school leadership is an exciting, yet often perplexing, phase of your career. With the recent release of the Professional Standards for Middle Leaders by AITSL, completing Australia's Professional Standards Trilogy, the path forward for aspiring leaders is now clearer.
We're here to guide you. Our program helps you navigate the Teaching Standards, Middle Leaders Standards, and Principal Standards in a cohesive way, ensuring you're well-equipped and confident in pursuing this vital role. Don't let the complexity deter you from your leadership aspirations!
At Purpose Driven Education, our commitment to developing confident, capable, and values-driven school leaders is grounded in the Australian Professional Standard for Principals.
We view this Standard—along with the accompanying Leadership Profiles—as a foundational guide for effective school leadership across Australia. Whether newly appointed or seeking to grow in established roles, principals can draw on this nationally endorsed framework to bring clarity, direction, and alignment to their daily leadership decisions.
The Standard provides a shared language and a structured approach to leadership development, helping school leaders to reflect, prioritise, and act in ways that align with high-impact practice. Our resources and supports are designed to embed this framework into the regular professional rhythms of leadership work.
Purpose Driven Education acknowledges the significant value of the Australian Professional Standard for Principals and its role in shaping school leadership nationally. However, we wish to state clearly that we are not affiliated with the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL), and we did not contribute to the development of the Standard or the Leadership Profiles.
These are independently developed, publicly available resources, which we incorporate into our work because we believe they represent a critical foundation for leadership excellence. We use them to support aspiring and current leaders in building schools where students, staff, and communities can thrive.

Purpose Driven Education has developed a new resource to help school leaders and mentors support teachers to develop their skills as they move to the Proficient standard or refine their skills as professional educators. This is a notebook to all hand written notes. We think there are numerous ways to use the resource which include:
having one per teacher to record thoughts/discussions/goals
mentors to record meeting notes so progress can be tracked
